Lots of cool stuff going on at Teknia. I was finally able to carve out some time from my responsibilities at BiblicalTraining.org to update my favorite Greek site!

Flashworks

Version 5 is finally ready for download.

Significantly rewritten code; FlashWorks no longer drops into the task bar on Windows.
Uses unicode to display Greek (TekniaGreek is no longer required).
The most requested feature is added: you can now work with just the words you have missed in the current session. As you use FlashWorks, use the “Right” and “Wrong” buttons. To work with the ones you got wrong, go to File|Session information and click the button, “Work with the words you have missed this sessions.”
Lots of little things you probably will never notice.
Has both Greek and Hebrew databases.

Please use Teknia's Contact page for any issues that might develop. Please read the instructions carefully about sound if you want FlashWorks to say the words. Thanks to those who have donated to cover my development costs.

ParseWorks

Thanks again to those who have helped me debug the new ParseWorks, accessible through the online class. Turns out the problem was not the code; the data had become corrupted. There is still some funky stuff going on (says the lexical form is wrong when it isn't), but I wanted all of you to know that the big issue of the data had been fixed.

By the way, I added in a feature. If you don't want to learn unicode (even though you should), you can enter the lexical form with English transliteration. See the online help for instructions.

Mounce Reverse Interlinear New Testament on BibleGateway

Dear Friends,

I wanted to let you know that the translation dad and I did for the interlinears is now available at BibleGateway.

The translation philosophy was to be sufficiently formal so it could function as an interlinear, but also as dynamic as possible to show students how to translate both words and meaning. Consequently, it sits between the ESV and NIV. For example, it does not always translate the same Greek word with the same English word since that information is supplied by the Greek, and it especially tries to maintain the distinction between dependent and independent constructions.

Currently, all that is available is the English translation. The Greek will be added soon; then you will be able to choose an English word, the BibleGateway will show you the Greek word behind the English as well as the word's entry in my Concise Greek Dictionary.

And don't forget: if you want to go deeper in your Bible Study but are not able to learn Greek the traditional way, check out my Biblical Greek Primer approach.

1. I finally found the bug in the Windows version of FlashWorks. Yeh! Sorry for the trouble, and you can download the latest installer here.

2. Monday with Mounce, my Greek blog to encourage Greek students, is formally on Teknia now and not BillMounce.com. There is always one major blog on Monday, and often smaller ones throughout the week. You can use your rss reader to have these delivered automatically to your browser. Just click on the orange rss icon in the lower left part of the home page.

3. Kentucky is still in the hunt for a national championship, and so our sale on Greek materials is still on. But they play Baylor on Sunday.

Mac Users of FlashWorks (VException Error 365826)

Friends,

There has been an ongoing problem for Macintosh users of FlashWorks. When they first access the database, they get VException Error:365826.

An exception of class VException was not handled. The
application must shut down. Exception Error Number: 365826

Thankfully, we have finally been able to identify the problem and there are two fixes. You can read the Support Post for instructions here.

We have also opened up a new FaceBook page for FlashWorks. I got tired of all the spammers messing up the forums, so I redid the forums as a place I can put instructions, but they do not allow for interaction. So interaction is all on the Facebook page now. It is currently at "http://www.facebook.com/pages/FlashWorks/370504202965474", and you can get there from www.billmounce.com/flashworks.

FlashWorks 4.5 is ready. It Talks!

Dear FlashWorks user,

Finally, FlashWorks 4.5 is ready. There have been lots of internal changes, but there are two main external changes.

The application is kept in the Applications folder (inside the Teknia folder), and the data is kept in the Documents folder. This should take care of all the permissions problems people have been reporting.
FlashWorks can now say the Greek words. Be sure to download the audio files (which are separate from the main installer).

FlashWorks can be downloaded from here. Be sure to check out the YouTube videos on how to get the most out of FlashWorks. Please let me know if you see any problems.

Good news! OliveTree has come out with the Basics of Biblical Greek grammar for the iPad. Now you can have the grammar wherever you go. But it is more than just an eBook. It adds nearly 2,000 hyperlinks between the main text and the appendix, making it even easier to look up additional information on forms or vocabulary. Users of Bible Reader 5 can even use the "look up" feature to find vocabulary words in the lexicon at the end of the text. Verse references have been tagged whenever possible throughout the exegesis sections, allowing students to look up the full text of the verses used in the the examples and exercises.
